I'm Matt Harris, and I started Imperial Sign Crafters in 2016 out of Summerville, South Carolina. I've been in the sign trade since 1991, designing, building and installing. These days we make monument signs, business signage and community mailbox kiosks for people all over the Charleston Lowcountry.



Our Story

We've Been Building Signs and Enhancing Businesses Since 2004

I got into signs in 1991. I was nineteen, still in college, and I took a job at Sign-A-Rama that was meant to be temporary. Three years later I moved to Signs Now in New York as their production and design lead, and I stayed sixteen years. We grew that shop's output threefold and handled national accounts including Prudential, Exxon and BP.

My wife Nancy and I moved down to Wilmington, North Carolina, where I ran fleet wraps and large-format fabrication at Empire Graphics and doubled the company's output in two years. Somewhere in there I invented and patented a product, which put me on Shark Tank in May 2015 and landed Daymond John as a partner.

But signs were always the work I came back to. We settled in Charleston, and in 2016 I started Imperial Sign Crafters. Today I build monument signs, business signage and community mailbox kiosks for clients across the Lowcountry, out of our shop in Summerville. Thirty-five years in, I still like the part where the truck pulls up and the sign goes in the ground.
